Chemistry Teacher – University of Playa Ancha 2008
I was born in 1984 in San Fernando, Chile.
I obtained a B.Sc in chemistry at the university of Playa Ancha (Faculty of Science, Valparaiso-Chile) and after graduating I was hired by the same university to work at the Molecular and Atomic Spectroscopy Laboratory under the supervision od Dr. Guillermo Díaz-Fleming. My research was oriented to Raman and Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) and the use of theoretical models (Aminoacids, pesticides and drugs) with the aim of determining the interactions and molecular orientation of organic compounds on the surface of AgNPs.
In 2010, I joined the chemistry PhD. Program at University of Santiago under the supervision of Dr. Carolina Aliaga. My current research is focused on the application of noble metal nanoparticles and core-shell nanostructures in Surface-enhanced spectroscopy such as SERS, SHINERS (Shell-Isolated Nanoparticles-Enhanced Raman Scattering) and SHINEF (Shell-Isolated Nanoparticles-Enhanced Fluorescence) to study hydrogen radical abstraction from polyphenol.
I’m visiting Dr. Tito Scaiano’s group to learn about synthesis of Ag and Au nanopaticles using photochemistry.
