Sandra Elizabeth Estrada Florez
I was born in Pasto, Nariño, Colombia in 1986. I received my BSc in Chemistry in 2009 from the University of Nariño, where I worked on the synthesis and characterization of heterocyclic compounds under the supervision of Professor Henry Insuasty. In 2010, I was awarded a scholarship for young researchers and I worked on the synthesis and characterization of doped conducting polymers at the Pontificia Bolivariana University and the Industrial University of Santander (Bucaramanga, Colombia).
In 2012, I was awarded a fellowship to conduct my doctoral studies in Colombia. This fellowship came from the Administrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (Colciencias). Currently, I am a Ph.D. student of Chemistry Sciences at National University of Colombia (Bogotá, D.C.) under the advice of Professor Cesar Sierra. I am working on the synthesis and characterization of oligomeric compounds with applications as organic photocatalysis. I have joined at Scaiano group as a visiting student in order to evaluate the photocatalytic efficiency of my compounds, but principally, to learn about the principles and applications of photochemistry and to know recent advances in this important area of the science.
