Julie Paulin Vanegas
Julie Paulin Vanegas Garcia, was born in Bogota, Colombia, and completed her studies in Bachelor of Chemistry in 2009 at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, Bogotá. Julie received the Santiago Grisolia (Spain) and Colciencias (Colombia) scholarships programs within the group of ICMOL Photochemical Reactivity, under the direction of Prof. Julia Pérez Prieto.
She finished her inter-university master's program in Experimental and Industrial Organic Chemistry at the University of Valencia. Julie Paulin is currently doing her doctoral thesis on the application of nanoparticles as sensors and metal nanoclusters. A ratiometric, specific sensor of different organic compounds has been developed. It is based on intermolecular nucleobase-pairing of nucleobases DNA-capped plasmonic nanoparticles to form nucleoside channels, which are destabilised by the analyte.
She loves to travel, having visited more than 15 countries, and loves her country ¨Colombia”, her family and her nephews Daniel, Samuel and Marc.
