Kevin , born in 1984, grew up in Wilno, Ontario. In 2008 he received an honours B.Sc. cooperative chemistry degree at the University of Waterloo in Southern Ontario. As part of the cooperative chemistry program Kevin worked in research and development of renewable fuels for a total of one year at Natural Resources in Ottawa under the supervision of Dr. Michio Ikura. Also as part of the cooperative chemistry program Kevin worked at the University of Waterloo as a researcher under the supervision of Dr. Pavle Radovanovic, who later became his undergraduate research supervisor. The work at the University of Waterloo was focused on electronic and magnetic properties of nanomaterials with a focus on spintronics and multiferroics.
In 2009, Kevin joined the Scaiano group as a masters student and in 2010 transferred to the chemistry PhD program in this group. His research was focused on the synthesis and applications of silver nanomaterials in spectroscopy, catalysis, and photolithography.
